As Newcastle United banked another three points towards their march up the table, hopefully.

United making it consecutive Premier League victories, after that equally impressive win over Man City at St James’ Park last weekend.

Eddie Howe and his players now have two quickfire Premier League home games against Spurs (Tuesday) and Burnley (Saturday).

The Newcastle United Head Coach reflecting on Everton 1 Newcastle 4:

“It was a massive win for us.

“A first away win of the season.

“We have been chasing that win and it was elusive so far…but that was a big moment.

“I’m so pleased that the players won, so I didn’t have to talk about the away form [after this Everton match].

“We scored goals, which we haven’t done regularly enough away from home, we looked fresh and we made some tactical tweaks.

“That was really important as we haven’t had that feeling enough, or at all.

“Very pleased today that we were able to put that right and give the [travelling] fans that winning feeling to go back to Newcastle with.

“We have a lot of work to do to say we have solved some of the issues we have had, but it is a big moment for us, a step forward.

“Time will tell if this is a turning point and I’m not going to make any big statements, there is a long way to go.”

Eddie Howe on the 4-1 victory having arrived on his 48th birthday:

“Well, I’m not happy being 48, that’s for sure,

“But I can enjoy the moment, it’s a really important win for us.”

Eddie Howe on Malick Thiaw scoring his first goals for NUFC:

“Big goals.

“The first one is a great ball from Lewis Miley, who I thought played really well today, and he got his head to it.

“The second one is a great ball from Lewis Hall.

“So goals from different sources, two set plays, but I thought we looked a goal threat all day.

“Nick [Woltemade] took his goal well, which was good for him to be back on the scoresheet, and we could have got more.”

Eddie Howe on back to back Premier League wins for the first time this season:

“That’s the key.

“Back-to-back wins is everything and beating Man City gave us a huge confidence lift.

“This one today will give us a lift [as well].”

Eddie Howe on injured goalkeeper Nick Pope:

“He is due to have a scan in the next few days to gather the extent of his injury.

“Delighted with Aaron [Ramsdale] today.

“I thought he came and did really well, so fingers crossed Nick’s [injury] is not too serious.”
