Edouard Mendy Hails Al Ahli as Saudi Arabia’s Biggest Club

Al Ahli goalkeeper Edouard Mendy celebrated historic triumph guiding his team to their first Saudi Super cup since 2016.

The Senegalese stopper heroically saved Al Nassr’s 4th penalty in dramatic shootout after the match ended 2 - 2 in regular time in Hong Kong.

Pride & leadership

Mendy expressed immense pride in winning his 1st title with Al Ahli as captain.

"We weren’t supposed to play in this tournament but I told the players in the semi final that we’re here for reason" he said.

He added:

“We wanted this trophy badly. Now we start the season well and will return to Jeddah to focus on our 1st league match against NEOM”

Since joining the club in summer 2023, Mendy’s goal has been clear: restore Al Ahli to the pinnacle of Saudi football.

"We strongly wanted to return this club to where it belongs because it's the biggest club in Saudi Arabia" he affirmed.

With winning mentality now ingrained following this Super cup victory and the earlier AFC Elite Champions league triumph .. Mendy stressed that the team must continue its hard work for upcoming challenges.
