Eduardo Camavinga is currently not enjoying his best moment for either club or country, and it is safe to say that the ongoing campaign has not been helpful to his career growth.

Alvaro Arbeloa has not counted on the midfielder as much as the player would have hoped for, and it is clear that his prominence is falling with every passing day.

He was called up by Didier Deschamps for France’s recent games in the international break, but word is breaking out that he may not make it to the World Cup squad if his situation persists.

Camavinga’s interview

Speaking to ESPN in a recent interview, the Real Madrid star opened up on several topics including his teammates, the UEFA Champions League and Alvaro Arbeloa.

He began by revealing how Vinicius Jr. is very close to him and their recent meeting during the international break when Brazil took on France.

“Vini is one of my best friends. Before the game, I called him and said ‘Where are you at?’ And he told me ‘I’m coming’. We linked up during the game. I also saw Casemiro, Endrick, and even Raphinha.”

He then opened up on Kylian Mbappe and how the Real Madrid star is critical for the French national team, saying,

“Mbappé has been important for France for 7, 8 years. It’s amazing. He’s a really hard worker, he always helps the team.”

“Before, he was playing with PSG and we played too much against each other, right now he plays with us, in France and Real Madrid, so it’s even better. He’s an amazing talent,” he added.

Elaborating on the type of person the star forward is, the midfielder revealed that he had a jovial side the world did not know about.

“Kylian is an amazing guy. He’s a really funny guy, maybe people don’t know but he’s really funny. People just saw the other side of Kylian but off the pitch, he’s a really amazing person.”

The player was then asked to reveal Alvaro Arbeloa’s management strategy and how the coach is behind the scenes. He admitted that Arbeloa handed the team freedom on the field and trusted the quality.

“Arbeloa has the same spirit as Ancelotti. He lets us have a lot of freedom on the pitch and even outside the pitch.”

“He’s someone who really looks to the player, talks to the player and sometimes he brings gifts after training, like doughnuts (laughs),” he added.

Camavinga also spoke on how it is important not to ‘over-coach’ a team that has stars including Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr., and Kylian Mbappe amongst others.

“I think these types of players, they’ve been playing at a high level for a long time so you don’t really need to focus on them, just make them happy.”

“I think when they’re happy, it’s easier to play because everything is already in their mind so when you have happiness and freedom in your mind, then your feet will do whatever they want,” he added.

Finally, the French star was asked about the team’s upcoming UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, to which he revealed a jovial incident from the NT camp.

“Bayern in UCL? I told Michael Olise: ‘Right now we’re friends, you’re my guy, but in 2 weeks, if I have to k*ll, I will k*ll you’.”
