Eintracht Frankfurt complete €10m signing of Raphael Onyedika | OneFootball

Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of Nigerian international midfielder Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge on a five-year deal. Sport Bild reports an initial €9m fee, rising to €10m with bonuses.

Brugge are understood to hold a five percent sell-on clause, and the contract reportedly contains no release clause. Frankfurt had chased him across multiple windows, reaching a verbal agreement in late July.

The Bundesliga club then improved their offer amid interest from Al-Ittihad, after which Onyedika travelled to Germany for his medical. The deal comes well below his estimated €23m market value, with Brugge’s leverage reduced by a contract expiring next summer.

He is Frankfurt’s second major defensive-midfield addition this summer after Noël Aséko arrived from Bayern Munich for €13m. Both players are tied to 2031, with around €22m invested to fortify a problem position.

Frankfurt shipped 86 goals across the Bundesliga and Champions League last season, with the slide worsening after the winter break. Onyedika’s power, protection and positional discipline are intended to address those flaws.

The 25-year-old previously emerged at Midtjylland before a €9.5m move to Brugge in 2022, winning the Belgian title in 2024. He has 26 Nigeria caps and significant European experience.

This is his first move into one of Europe’s top five leagues, and with Frankfurt missing Europe after finishing eighth, integration time should be plentiful.
