Eiran Cashin's cross was converted by Yuki Ohashi to secure a 1-0 win for Blackburn against Preston on Friday night
Eiran Cashin has reacted in one word to Blackburn Rovers’ late winner against local rivals Preston North End on Friday night.
Michael O’Neill’s side earned all three points with a stoppage time goal courtesy of Yuki Ohashi, which moved them six points clear of the relegation zone ahead of the remainder of the weekend’s action in the Championship.
The Lancashire outfit have now won back-to-back games, easing the pressure on their survival in the second division for this season, keeping them ahead of the likes of West Brom and Leicester City regardless of their results later this afternoon.
O’Neill was appointed as manager earlier this month, and this was his first home game as Valerien Ismael’s replacement for the remainder of the campaign.
The 56-year-old took on the role as part of a job share position, as he will also remain in charge of the Northern Ireland men’s national team amid their crucial play-offs in March as they seek qualification for the World Cup in North America this summer.

Cashin has posted a message to Blackburn supporters in celebration of the team’s late winner against Paul Heckingbottom’s side.
The defender’s cross was met by Ohashi at the back post, whose header struck the crucial goal that secured an important three points for the side.
“Limbs,” wrote Cashin, via his personal Instagram page.
The team were quick to run to the corner flag to all celebrate the late winner together with the fans, as they earned victory over their local rivals.
This was Cashin’s seventh appearance for Rovers since making the January switch from Premier League side Brighton.
The centre-back spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Birmingham City, where he struggled for consistent minutes under Chris Davies.
The 24-year-old made just 11 appearances, starting on just three occasions, which led to him being recalled by the Seagulls during the winter window.
Blackburn completed a loan deal to bring Cashin to the club for the second half of the season, and he has proven a key part of the side.
This was his first assist for the Championship team, but he has also already contributed the winning goal in their recent 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday.
Blackburn are now on 38 points from 33 games, as they seek survival in the second division beyond this season.

Cashin’s cross was put right in the danger area and it proved a fantastic assist for Ohashi to secure all three points.
The defender is proving a really successful loan signing for the Lancashire outfit, as his goal and assist has directly contributed to six points, which is now the gap to the relegation zone.
It’s been a difficult last 12 months for the centre-back, but his recent run of form has shown why he was such a popular figure at Derby County prior to his move to Brighton.
Cashin really needed a good loan spell at Blackburn to get his career back on track, and he is making a very strong impression so far.
