El Comité Técnico de Árbitro (CTA) has again backed Valencia CF, stating there was no penalty by Guido Rodríguez in a first-minute incident against Deportivo Alavés.

According to Superdeporte, officials on the RFEF’s Tuesday review segment said the contact was light. They added it did not meet either of the two criteria for a penalty, that the contact prevented the player from finishing the move, or that the stamp was reckless with excessive force.

The flashpoint influenced the match, though Valencia CF overturned the scoreline.

CTA also sided with Valencia CF last week, confirming a penalty should have been awarded for an Osasuna handball at Mestalla.

In a video, referees said defender Herrando’s arm, although used to brace his fall, remained extended and away from the body, created an unnatural barrier and intercepted the ball, so the handball was punishable and the referee’s on-field decision was a clear and obvious error.
