Stephan El Shaarawy spoke to Sky Sport about Roma’s progress under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini.
“Every year the club strives to build a credible structure, a team, and a staff that are worthy of the club and Roma’s history, so every year we start with the goal of building a winning team. Above all, we need people who also know the club.”
“We’ve seen Ranieri as a coach, the results he brought and is now bringing as a manager, having chosen a great coach like Gasperini, so people who know the club help you, help you much more.”
“Alongside him is Ricky [Massara], who has already had experience at Roma twice, so he’s already done it as a coach and Ranieri is doing it as a manager, a fantastic job, so yes, this year we’re off to a strong start, and I must say we’re on the right path.”
“Our attacking issues? I want to see the glass half full, because despite our ninth-ranked attack, we’re tied for first place with Inter. I see, even analyzing the matches with the coach, that we create a lot of chances. If we could also improve our finishing, I think we could become a complete team. So there’s work to be done, but I think we’re on the right track. If we can also have a good finishing streak, I think we could be protagonists for a long time.”
“Soule? Compared to last season, I’ve seen significant growth from Soulé. He’s doing really well, but I also see it in his training, in the details, in his dribbling, shooting, and accuracy. He’s truly making significant progress. But I think everyone is growing. Gasperini has his ability, that of bringing out the best in everyone, both individually and collectively.”
“We go through more or less positive periods. Right now, there are players who are performing, who are getting better performances and playing more minutes. But that’s part of football. Right now, there are also a lot of us up front. The goal is always to work, to work with the utmost calm and, above all, professionalism.”
“Because then the coach gives you opportunities, and you have to be ready to take advantage of them, to make yourself useful to the cause, to try to be a key player. We’ve seen that even those who come in can be more decisive than those who start. The goal is always to make yourself available to the team and do your best.”
