Celtic FC Women are in action this Sunday when they take on Glasgow City in the SWPL.
And on the back of their midweek 2-1 victory over Hearts, the Hoops are determined to keep building on that momentum with another three points.
That win follows a 1-0 victory over Motherwell, and Head Coach, Elena Sadiku, is looking for her side to make it three-in-a-row this weekend.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game at Petershill Park (KO: 1pm), she said: “There were many good things that we saw in terms of being a goal behind but then coming out in the second half and winning 2-1. It shows a strong belief in each other, which was nice to see.
“The performance against Hearts was so good in terms of how well the players did in everything, and we just need to build on that and perform like we did because we know that we have a squad with quality.
“We’ve just been a bit inconsistent this season and that is the most important thing – to continue what we did on Wednesday.”
Sunday’s game against Glasgow City will be the sixth meeting between the sides this season, with both sides having enjoyed two victories apiece, with the other game being drawn.
And Elena Sadiku knows that a victory will reduce the gap at the top of the table and keep the pressure on the other teams also chasing the title.
Celtic will unfortunately have to play their remaining four fixtures of the campaign with Shannon McGregor, who has been ruled out through injury after what has been a very impressive first season with the Hoops.
But whoever is selected to play, the target remains the same – win all four remaining fixtures and see where that takes the team.
“I’ve said to the players that we have four more games,” Elena Sadiku said, “and we’ve been talking about every game counting.
“We have to look at each of them as a final because, in the end, if we have other results with us – and you’ve seen that there can be different results every week – then we never know when we come to play Motherwell here at Celtic Park (May 18) that suddenly we could have something to play for and we’ve done everything we can to affect that. But if we haven’t, then we can’t blame anyone else but ourselves.
“So we want to make sure we end the season showing the quality team we know that we are.
“You can look at all the games we played against Glasgow City. The one where we lost 3-2 in the cup, for example, we should have been 4-0 up at half-time because we created so many chances, and then the 2-2 game in the league, we were one-up and then 2-1 down, before we scored to make it 2-2.
“So it’s just about how we can control the game better and be switched on, and we’ve shown that in the last few games, especially against Hearts.”
