Top favourites France and Argentina have already made it to the knockout stage, while England and Spain are on the cusp of securing qualification.

However, the World Cup journey has come to an end for six teams after losing their opening two matches. Below we take a look at these six teams.

Haiti

Haiti showed fighting spirit in Wednesday’s 4-2 loss against Morocco, but their hopes for the next round had already ended after the 3-0 thumping by Brazil last week. The tournament minnows also lost their first group match 1-0 to Scotland.

Turkiye

Despite boasting supreme talents like Arda Guler and Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Turkiye endured a disappointing campaign in North America. They lost 2-0 to Australia in their opening match before slumping to a 1-0 defeat against 10-man Paraguay.

Tunisia

Tunisia got off to a nightmare start, as Sweden hammered the North African side 5-1 in Mexico. The Eagles of Carthage then took a heavy beating to Japan who scored four unanswered goals to knock them out of the tournament.

Jordan

Jordan entered as one of the four World Cup debutants, but Jamal Sellami’s side suffered an early elimination. The Asian side began their campaign with a 3-1 loss to Austria before Algeria beat them 2-1 earlier this week.

Panama

Panama landed one of the toughest groups in the tournament that included England, Croatia and Ghana. Without surprises, their World Cup journey ended early following back-to-back losses against Ghana and Croatia.

Qatar

Qatar bowed out of the tournament after losing their second match of the group stage against Bosnia & Herzegovina. Their opening game resulted in a 6-0 thrashing at the hands of Canada.
