Work on Elland Road’s major redevelopment is gathering pace, with capacity set to rise from 37,645 to 53,000 after construction began last month following the end of the season.

The club said the project, expected to be completed in 2030, marks a momentous moment in Leeds United history.

Crews are removing the Banqueting Suite and demolishing the ticket office, while the external structure by the West Stand is being demolished and the floodlights have also come down.

Work on the West Stand is expected to be completed in 2028, lifting its capacity from 8,000 to 17,750. The North Stand expansion is set to take a further two years, increasing from a maximum 10,414 to 15,300.

A temporary structure behind the North Stand, expected to host corporate facilities during the works, is now taking shape.

Improvements inside the ground are under way, with the pitch and dugouts due to be ready for next season.

Leeds United great Gary McAllister has welcomed the upgrade, saying the stadium had grown tired and deserved a proper makeover.

Leeds are next expected to host RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly on the weekend of August 8/9.
