Despite the announced warning strike in Munich’s public transport system, there is good news for Bayern fans: a solution has been found to ensure that travel to the Allianz Arena remains possible for the Champions League match against Atalanta Bergamo

Initially, there was a threat of major travel problems for FC Bayern’s second leg of the round of 16 tie against Atalanta Bergamo (Wednesday, 9.00 pm). The Verdi trade union has largely paralyzed public transport in Munich – numerous subway trains, streetcars and buses have been cancelled

This is a major issue for soccer fans in particular, as the majority of spectators normally take the U6 subway line to the Allianz Arena in Fröttmaning

But now the all-clear has been given: the Munich Transport Company (MVG) has organized an emergency solution together with FC Bayern

U-Bahn runs to Allianz Arena despite strike

MVG has announced that the U3 and U6 lines will be operated in sections, with the route between Munich city center and Fröttmaning being served

This means that the Allianz Arena will remain accessible for fans on Wednesday evening – despite the massive restrictions on local transport

However, there are still uncertainties. The exact timetable and frequency depend on the number of staff available. Fans must therefore be prepared for possible waiting times

A similar concept already proved its worth during a warning strike in February, when the U6 was used specifically to get spectators to the stadium on time

FC Bayern offers additional shuttle service

FC Bayern itself is also helping fans to get to the stadium by organizing a free shuttle bus service

Shuttle buses will run from the Donnersberger Brücke S-Bahn station to the Allianz Arena from 5.30 p.m. After the game, the same service will be offered for the return journey – the destination will then be Stachus in the city center

Despite these measures, those responsible advise all fans to arrive much earlier than usual, as the strike may still lead to delays and restrictions

In sporting terms, FC Bayern will go into the second leg in a comfortable position, with Vincent Kompany’s team winning the first leg in Bergamo by a clear 6:1.
