Emerson Royal had a pleasant 26th birthday all told, as AC Milan came from behind to beat Como and he was named the man of the match.
Milan were not at the races for large parts of the game against Cesc Fabregas’ men, who took the lead early in the second half when Assane Diao capped off a sweeping counter with a powerful left-footed shot.
However, so far under Sergio Conceicao we have learned that the Rossoneri will not lay down when they go behind, and sure enough they scored twice in quick succession – in the 71st and 75th minute – to turn the game on its head.
The leveller came from Theo Hernandez, his 30th goal in Serie A which sees him overtake Paolo Maldini, while Rafael Leao provided the winner with a lovely composed finish after Tammy Abraham’s through ball.
After the game and scooping his Panini Player of the Match award, Emerson spoke about another come-from-behind win under Conceicao, with MilanNews relaying his comments.
You were man of the match…
“I’m very happy with the team’s performance, when we go so hard to beat us: we are stronger every day.”
Do you have more confidence under Conceicao?
“We are working every day for this. We are more aggressive with and without the ball: this work is too important.”
What did Conceicao tell you at the end of the match?
“He told me I played a great game and that he was happy for me.”
