Julio Enciso has confirmed he held talks with Palmeiras and voiced his hope that a move could happen in the future.

According to Nosso Palestra, discussions took place during the July 2025 window while he was at Brighton, but he chose to remain in Europe and signed for Strasbourg in France.

Speaking on Tuesday, the Paraguayan said he has great affection for Palmeiras and a close bond with compatriots Gustavo Gómez and Ramón Sosa. He added that Gómez, the club captain, discussed the possibility with him and that circumstances meant it did not work out. He said he often swaps shirts with Gómez or Sosa on international duty and remains grateful to the Palmeiras board for their trust.

Before joining Strasbourg, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder had been at Brighton since 2022 after arriving from Libertad for £9.5 million. He recorded five goals and six assists in 57 appearances.

Last season he was loaned to Ipswich Town, who were relegated from the Premier League. BlueCo Group, which controls Chelsea and Strasbourg, signed him for €15 million plus bonuses. He is viewed as a long-term option for Chelsea and could move to Stamford Bridge from 2026/27.
