The Three Lions were 2-0 winners at Villa Park, with an own-goal from Christian Garcia and a Declan Rice header securing the three points that keep them top of Group K.

Thomas Tuchel’s side, as expected, dominated much of the possession - but struggled to break down a stubborn Andorra side.

England are next in action on Tuesday night, when they travel to Serbia, who are second in Group K, for another World Cup qualifier.

Simon Collings was at Villa Park to see England in action...

Jordan Pickford 6

An easy afternoon for the goalkeeper - because Andorra did not manage a single shot on target.

Reece James 7

Assisted England’s second goal with a lovely cross from the right, which Rice headed home. Created a good chance for Kane in the first half with another great ball from out wide.

Marc Guehi 6

A comfortable game for the centre-back, with England dominating possession. Off for the final stages as Konsa got a run-out.

Dan Burn 6

Had very little defensive work to do, but saw a lot of the ball when England were in possession. Solid and didn’t really put a foot wrong.

Myles Lewis-Skelly 6

A steady display from the teenager. Got forward more in the second half and held his width.

Eberechi Eze 6

Had a shot cleared off the line in the first half and then was denied after the break by a good save. Bright and lively in patches.

Elliot Anderson 7 | Star player

A promising debut from the midfielder, who snapped into tackles and passed the ball well. Blew a great chance to score early in the second half.

Declan Rice 7

Scored with his final touch before being substituted. A strong performance from the midfielder, who played further forward than expected.

Noni Madueke 7

Got the assist for the opening goal with a cross from the right flank. Sharp and caused problems with some mazy runs.

Harry Kane 6

Did not have many chances, which was a surprise. Should have had an assist, but Anderson could not convert his cut-back.

Marcus Rashford 6

Missed a great chance early in the second half, when he curled an effort wide from inside the box. Fine, but no fireworks.

Substitutions

Tino Livramento (James 68’) 6

Picked up where James left off and got forward a lot. A bright cameo.

Anthony Gordon (Rashford 68’) 6

Typically busy and tried to raise the tempo. Played off the left but had licence to drift central and get close to Kane.

Morgan Rogers (Rice 68’) 6

Played as a right No8, but drifted wide. Created a chance with a cross that Gordon tried to turn home.

Ezri Konsa (Guehi 76’) N/A

Morgan Gibbs-White (Eze 78’) N/A

Subs not used: D. Henderson, Trafford, Spence, J. Henderson, Loftus-Cheek, Bowen, Watkins
