English clubs have won the Premier League & Champions League in the same season

Liverpool - 1977 and 1984

Liverpool were the first English side to achieve the feat during the 1976/77 campaign. Bob Paisley's side won the European Cup for the first time after beating Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 in Rome, adding the trophy to their 10th league title win. Only defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup final prevented Paisley's side from becoming England's first treble winners.

Seven seasons later, Liverpool repeated the feat under Joe Fagan. Liverpool beat Southampton to the First Division title, and added the European Cup to the cabinet with a shootout win over Roma. The final was again staged at the Stadio Olimpico, the setting for the club's 1977 win, as the Reds beat Roma on their home soil. Liverpool also lifted the League Cup in 1984 to complete a treble of trophies.

Manchester United - 1999 and 2008

Manchester United made history during the 1998/99 campaign as the first English team to win thePremier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.

A dramatic 10-day period saw Sir Alex Ferguson's side clinch title success on the final day, before beating Newcastle United 2-0 in the FA Cup final. In the club's first European Cup final for 31 years, two stoppage-time goals from Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Bayern Munich.

Ferguson secured his second Champions League win as Manchester United manager in 2008. After narrowly pipping Chelsea to the Premier League title, United beat the Blues on penalties in Moscow to triumph in the first-ever all-English final.

Manchester City - 2023

Manchester City matched the treble-winning achievement of their neighbours in 2023. The Cityzens secured the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League during an unforgettable season under Pep Guardiola.

City came from behind to outlast Arsenal in the title race, before beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final. A maiden Champions League triumph was secured in Istanbul, as Rodri's winner sealed a 1-0 win over Inter Milan.
