Enrique Riquelme, a candidate for the Real Madrid presidency, said he would bring Erling Haaland and Rodri to the club this summer if elected. According to L'Équipe, he made the pledge on El Hormiguero on Wednesday night.
Riquelme, 37, said Haaland has a release clause and that, should he win, the striker would join Real Madrid. He also displayed a document he said was signed by the Norway forward.
He also named Rodri, saying the midfielder would play for Real Madrid under his leadership. Riquelme comes from a family of club supporters.
The remarks come as campaigning intensifies ahead of the vote, with Florentino Pérez seeking another term.
In a separate move, Riquelme’s rival posted a campaign video on X showing José Mourinho in a Real Madrid shirt, a clip interpreted as hinting at a possible return if Pérez is re-elected.
