Enzo Barrenechea has begun off-season work intent on returning in top condition and proving he merits a place under Marco Silva at Benfica.
According to Glorioso 1904, the 25-year-old midfielder is following an individual training plan during his holiday to reach Benfica Campus without physical limitations and ready to compete.
His 2025/26 campaign fell short of expectations, largely due to fitness issues that curbed his impact. A traumatic subluxation of his right shoulder was a key setback, restricting his involvement.
After featuring more prominently early on, he saw his role diminish in the second half of the season and started only six matches. Despite finishing the year disappointed, he remains focused, spending his final days of rest in Argentina with family.
Valencia have been linked with the Argentine, though the Spanish club have yet to make a concrete move.
Across 2,967 minutes last season, Barrenechea scored two goals and provided one assist for Benfica, and for much of the year was among the more frequently used midfielders.
