West Brom have eyed a move for Minnesota United star Nectarios Triantis, who played under new Baggies boss Eric Ramsay for the MLS side.
The Baggies endured a poor run under former boss Ryan Mason, leaving them just 18th in the Championship following last Monday's 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.
Caretaker boss James Morrison, meanwhile, successfully guided The Hawthorns side to an FA Cup third round victory over Swansea City, beating the Welsh side on penalties.
West Brom are now vying for a successful January transfer window, while their next Championship encounter sees them host Middlesbrough on Friday.

Ramsay will be bidding to get to work in the market as soon as possible as he looks to settle into the role, stamp down his authority on the new squad in which he has inherited and, of course, fire the Baggies up to the right end of the league table, and reports have already emerged linking the Welshman to a potential reunion with Nectarios Triantis, who starred under his stewardship at MLS outfit Minnesota Unite.d
Meanwhile, amid the January transfer window, Football League World asked our Baggies fan pundit, Callum Burgess to name one player he would realistically urge his side to acquire before the end of the month.
Callum said: "There's been some links with Nectarios Triantis, previously of Sunderland, (who) signed for Minnesota United this summer. He worked with Ramsay previously after spending last season on loan at Hibernian, where he had a really, really good loan spell.
"I think that midfield's obviously an area where Albion are very short at the moment, and could really do with some reinforcements. If Albion are able to get a deal done for Triantis, then I think that would represent a real coup.
"He has versatility as well, he's able to play in defence, he's able to play as a box-to-box and also a defensive midfielder. I think with the lack of legs and quality in Albion's midfield at this moment in time, Triantis would be a very good signing for us.
"I think that signing someone in his mould would be a real good signing."

Ramsay arrives at West Brom with a strong reputation, thanks to his previous stint as a coach at Manchester United, before taking charge at Minnesota.
However, the 34-year-old lacks Championship experience, which could lead to some doubts over whether he can perform in the second tier.
Therefore, acquiring Triantis, who excelled for him in the MLS, could help Ramsay meet the demands expected of him at The Hawthorns.
The former Sunderland midfielder notched three goals and two assists in 10 appearances for Minnesota last term, helping them finish fourth in the Western Conference.
Triantis was also a real asset for Hibernian throughout two separate spells with the Edinburgh club in 2023/24 and 2024/25, respectively, while he made three Championship appearances for Sunderland.
