Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has made it clear to the club’s rivals that he feels as though he is currently at the very peak of his goalscoring powers so far in his career.
As City prepare for one of their biggest domestic challenges of the season, Haaland has made his intentions crystal clear over the belief that he is currently operating at the highest level of his career to date.
The Norwegian striker, who has already racked up a collection of awards and records since arriving at the Etihad Stadium, insists there is more to come as Pep Guardiola’s side prepare for the visit of Liverpool this weekend.
Erling Haaland’s comments arrive during a period of renewed momentum for Manchester City, who are once again looking to push up the Premier League table after an uneven start to the campaign during August.
Having recently won the Premier League’s September Player of the Month award, the 25-year-old’s form has also been described by pundits such as Jamie Carragher as “the biggest difference-maker” in England’s ongoing title race.
Now, speaking during a new interview – as relayed by MailSport – Erling Haaland insisted that he has never felt any better than he does right now, in a firm warning to the rest of the division and European football concerning his abilities in front of goal.
“I feel this is the best version of myself. I’ve never felt better than now,” the Norway international admitted ahead of the weekend’s clash with Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
He continued, “It’s been a good start, and I feel really good. To keep sharp, I need to keep my mind in the right place. It’s staying in the zone and having that balance.”
This weekend will also mark the 1,000th match managed by Pep Guardiola in the Catalan’s top-level coaching career, on which Haaland said, “He’s a genius. There’s a reason why he’s been winning so much – because of his dedication and the hard work.
“Just look at everything he has done for this club and in his career – it’s fantastic. It’s about working together – we need to listen to him, he tells us what to do and how to play. We need to perform for him because he deserves it.”
As relayed by ESPN, Haaland said specifically of the task on the pitch on Sunday afternoon against Arne Slot’s men, “We need to be ready because it’s not going to be an easy game.
“The competition between Man City and Liverpool has been amazing in previous years – pushing each other to get better and fighting for the title. It’s going to be a difficult game, and we need to be at our best.”
Erling Haaland’s bold declaration comes at a pivotal time for both player and club. With the striker already back among the goals and Pep Guardiola celebrating a historic managerial milestone, Manchester City’s upcoming run of fixtures could define their season.
The Norwegian’s confidence and form suggest he could once again lead the scoring charts and guide Manchester City toward reclaiming domestic and European dominance.
Beyond the Liverpool clash, Erling Haaland’s words serve as a reminder to Manchester City’s Premier League rivals that any dip in his form last season appears to be firmly behind him.
