Manchester City are hopeful the problem that sidelined Erling Haaland at the weekend is not serious.

According to Nottingham Post, the issue arose in training before the trip to Leeds and is not considered a major concern.

The Norway striker missed the 1-0 win at Elland Road and will be assessed on Monday and Tuesday ahead of Wednesday's meeting with Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium. He has scored 29 goals in all competitions this season.

Pep Guardiola said after the game that he did not have an answer yet on Haaland's return, noting the forward was not ready for Leeds. He highlighted there are four days before Forest, then three before the FA Cup tie at Newcastle with an eight pm kick-off.

The manager also delivered a pointed aside about that scheduling, sarcastically thanking for the timing and saying it leaves them with less recovery before Madrid.

Nico O'Reilly, withdrawn after 70 minutes at Leeds with an ankle injury, will also be checked.
