Brazilian striker joins Coritiba as Esperance clears room for new foreign signing
Esperance Cuts Ties With Rodrigo Rodrigues After Turbulent Spell
Esperance Tunis have officially parted ways with Brazilian forward Rodrigo Rodrigues ending 2 season spell that saw mixed performances & growing tensions inside the club.
Following Esperance’s elimination from the 2025 FIFA Club World cup, management & coaching staff agreed that Rodrigues, 29 would leave the team.
Coritiba a Brazilian second division side confirmed on Wednesday the striker’s arrival without revealing transfer details. The club described him as major boost to their attacking line and unveiled photos of his first training session just hours after signing.
Rodrigues expressed optimism in his first statement praising the atmosphere at Coritiba & stressing his ambition to help the team return to Brazil’s top flight.
The forward’s relationship with the Tunisian giants had soured since last season. He struggled for form, drew heavy criticism from fan and clashed with officials after refusing to terminate his contract early.
Originally tied to Esperance until Jun 2026, his sudden decline in goal numbers forced the club to push for exit.
With Rodrigues gone, Esperance now has room to register new foreign player. Negotiations are already in the final stages with Algerian forward Ksila Boualia of JS who's expected to sign soon.
