West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo says striker Pablo’s fitness is “improving a lot” as he works his way back from a calf problem.
Pablo was signed in January but has not played since February 7 with the injury
Asked for an update, Espírito Santo said: “We are assessing him day by day. He is improving a lot”.
Asked if there were any other injuries to report ahead of the FA Cup clash against Brentford, he replied: “You know how it goes. It was a tough game against Fulham. We are recovering, assessing and preparing.”
West Ham have improved their form of late, losing only one of their last five league matches.
On what has changed, the Portuguese boss said: “It was not me. It was the players. The players have improved our game and the results are helping. The mood is much better.
“We’ve been able to react well. It’s not possible every time but to bounce back from poor performances is always important, especially in the fight we are involved in. We saw against Fulham that the players reacted well after Liverpool, so hopefully it continues. What we want to avoid is setbacks, so let’s keep this flow as long as we can.”
West Ham are currently 18th, but just one point behind Tottenham. Asked if he had watched Spurs lose 3-1 to Crystal Palace, Espírito Santo said: “We cannot influence anything, we are just spectators, so it doesn’t mean anything for us. We are still in the same situation. We have a lot of work in front of us.”
