Real Madrid fans painted "92:48" on the walls of Estádio da Luz on Tuesday night, a nod to their décima, ahead of the Champions League league phase finale at Benfica. According to Glorioso 1904, the mural was made outside the stadium.
It was at this ground that Madrid ended their wait since 2002 by winning a 10th European crown. When Atlético Madrid were leading in that final, Luka Modric delivered from a corner and Sergio Ramos headed in to level. The clock read 92:48.
That goal flipped the contest, and in extra time Madrid pulled clear to win 4-1, with Cristiano Ronaldo converting a penalty to finish the scoring.
This is a storied European rivalry. The clubs have the most participations in the competition, and they met in the 1961/62 European Cup final, which Benfica won 5-3.
The match at Estádio da Luz is today, 28 January, with kick-off at 20:00. The referee is Italian Davide Massa, with Marco Di Bello on VAR. The touchline duel will feature José Mourinho and Álvaro Arbeloa.
