The Arsenal youngster has been included in every Marseille matchday squad for domestic fixtures since joining on loan during the January transfer window.

Nwaneri scored on his Marseille debut against Lens before making successive starts against Paris, Rennes and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, he was named on the bench in last weekend’s 2-2 draw at home to Strasbourg in the club’s first game after mutually agreeing to part ways with Roberto De Zerbi.

Furthermore, Nwaneri remained an unused substitute against Gary O’Neil’s side which sparked concerns from some Arsenal supporters online regarding the loan spell.

That said, the 18-year-old has the chance to return to action on Friday having been pictured boarding the plane for the trip to the Stade Francis-Le Ble.

Nwaneri will be hopeful of getting some minutes under his belt against Brest in what will be Habib Beye’s first game in charge following his appointment on Wednesday.

The former Newcastle and Aston Villa defender was dismissed from his role at fellow French side Rennes earlier in the month, but has made a swift return to management by taking over the club he once played for.

“When you have this kind of quality among your players and this group at your disposal, you have to aim to be a vertical team, one that plays dominant football,” Beye said during his unveiling.

“With these talented players, we need to be aware of that. It's a bit early to sell you a complete game plan, but here, people want to feel the excitement—they want to identify with the team.

“I believe that work has already been done. The job done previously was good—there have been positive and negative dynamics, but we must acknowledge what OM has achieved in recent years.

“You can't dismiss that: the football has been spectacular and of high quality. Of course, we always want consistency in results, but that's not for me to judge.

“Our football must reflect this city, this club, this stadium. Here, you’re held accountable by the fans, who are passionate about OM, about the club, about football. We need to embody that, to understand the identity and values of the club and the city.

“Maybe I have a head start on that, but the real test will be on the pitch.”
