Dutch side Ajax is eyeing Southampton attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana for a January loan move. While the club was unable to sign Sulemana in the summer, they might strike a deal this time.
Remember, Southampton was quite busy with loan moves on the summer transfer deadline day. The Saints brought Cornet to the club on loan, which honestly didn't go as planned.
However, that arrival was partly influenced by a potential departure in mind. Southampton had agreed to loan out Kamaldeen Sulemana to Ajax for the entire season.
Yet, that move failed at the last moment. As a result, the Ghanaian attacker had to stay with Southampton.
Later, he was unfortunate to be sidelined for months due to injuries. Even though he is enjoying a good run of form, it has taken a lot of time to come.
Especially, considering that he was signed a while ago in 2023. Thus, it isn't guaranteed that he will thrive at the club from now onwards.
Hence, the club should actively seek some suitors for a permanent sale.
Coincidentally, it turns out that Ajax are set to revive their interest in the 23-year-old once again.
As reported by Sky Sports in their live blog, Southampton's Kamaldeen Sulemana is attracting transfer interest from Ajax and Nantes.
A few weeks ago, Genoa were also keen to land Sulemana on a loan move. Clearly, the attacker's recent performances has convinced clubs to invest in his potential.
However, the current situation is very different from August. Without Dibling, Sulemana is the most trustworthy forward for Southampton up front.
Thus, the Saints might only seek a straight permanent transfer.
The report further mentions that those approaches included loan deals and were, thus, rejected. Southampton knows they have the ball in their court and can handpick any offer that suits them best.
If Sulemana backs his good form with goals, this could be a win win situation for Southampton. The Saints could then be in a position to demand hefty transfer fees as well.
Let's see whether any of these clubs step up their efforts to sign Sulemana.
