Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has paid tribute to John Robertson and recommended renaming the Bridgford Stand as the John Robertson Stand at the City Ground.
According to Nottingham Post, Marinakis called this a week of profound sadness for the club and extended condolences to Robertson’s family, friends and all who loved him.
Robertson died aged 72 on Christmas Day after a long illness, passing peacefully with his wife and family by his side. His loved ones take comfort that he is reunited with daughter Jessica.
He provided the cross for Trevor Francis to head the only goal against Malmo in Munich in 1979, as Brian Clough’s side lifted the European Cup for the first time.
12 months later, he scored in another 1-0 victory as Forest retained the European crown against Hamburg in Madrid.
