Tottenham finished 11th in the Women’s Super League last season, with just five wins from 22 games.

They only finished ahead of Crystal Palace who were relegated to the second-tier of English football.

The club parted ways with Robert Vilahamn and brought in former Manchester United assistant Ho from Norwegian side Brann.

Speaking to The Guardian, 27-year-old Finnish midfielder Summanen has backed Tottenham to improve in the 2025-26 season.

Eveliina Summanen says Martin Ho has brought in a “lot of good energy” since his arrival as Tottenham head coach last month.

She told The Guardian: “There’s not been that much time yet with him but he’s given us a lot of good energy and that’s sometimes the most important thing.

“Without going into too much detail, he’s just tweaking small things. It’s still quite hard to judge, but the first impression has been really good and really positive and I feel like there is a route for us to go down.

“There is so much more potential than what we showed last season and I think he can bring that potential out of us.”

Summanen played 17 times for Tottenham in the WSL last season, in what was a frustrating year for the north London side.

After finishing sixth in 2023-24, Spurs dropped to 11th in the following season.

“Obviously, it didn’t go as we wished for,” Summanen said. “That’s just a learning curve for all of us in the club and in and around the team, just to remember that nothing comes for free in this league and you just need to work for it.

When does the 2025-26 WSL season start for Tottenham?

Tottenham kick off their 2025-26 Women’s Super League season at home against London rivals West Ham on Sunday, September 7th.

Martin Ho’s side also play Everton, Manchester City and Leicester in the opening month.

Spurs will be in action on Saturday, August 23rd, when they play a pre-season friendly against north London rivals Arsenal.

Tottenham, who have only signed one player so far this summer, will also play Southampton in a friendly before the start of the new campaign.
