Evelin Bonifácio of the Sereias da Vila made her Brazil senior debut, coming on in a 6-1 win over Zambia at Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá in the second round of the FIFA Series on Tuesday 14.

The goals came from Yasmim, Tainá Maranhão, Angelina, Raíssa Bahia, Kerolin and Vitória Calhau. The player said in a post that the debut was one of the most important moments of her life.

She spoke of emotion, pride and responsibility in wearing the shirt. She thanked team-mates, family and coaches, praised the staff for giving her confidence, and vowed to keep working hard.

It was her first call to the senior squad at 18. She had previously trained with the group only for a camp. She was added to the FIFA Series squad in place of Jheniffer of Tigres (MEX), who has a left foot plantar fascia injury.

The FIFA Series brings together four national teams from different confederations in a single host nation, with this edition played in Cuiabá. The competition aims to broaden competitive opportunities and visibility, and Brazil will host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

She had been with Brazil Under-20s for friendlies against the United States in Kansas. After the injury, she was summoned and travelled from the US directly to Cuiabá.

Santos recently renewed her deal. She debuted for the club last year and scored her first senior goal in the recent draw at Botafogo in Rio. The Alvinegro are next in action against Atlético-MG on 20 April.
