“Even at 40, Thiago Silva is better than Brazil’s centre-backs”

Beyond the “Neymar doubt,” the Brazilian national team is also dealing with the “Thiago Silva doubt” regarding a possible call-up for the 2026 World Cup. Zé Elias, a former Brazil international, would choose the experienced FC Porto centre-back, believing he is still “the best.”

“I would take Thiago Silva instead of Danilo as a centre-back. Even at 40, I think Thiago Silva is better than all the centre-backs we have in the national team. I think he is better than Marquinhos. I think Marquinhos is a good player, but for me he is not on the same level as Thiago. I like Thiago Silva more,” said the former midfielder on ESPN Brasil’s “Equipe F” programme.
