The Toffees are still keeping tabs on West Brom's Tom Fellows.
Everton are believed to be keeping tabs on West Brom star Tom Fellows after a failed attempt to sign the winger in January.
Journalist Alan Nixon reported on transfer deadline day in February that Everton had agreed a fee with the Baggies for Fellows' services, but a deal failed to be done before the 11pm deadline.
Now, Alan Nixon believes the Goodison Park outfit are continuing to track Fellows, likely with a view to trying to make a move again in the summer.
The 21-year-old has further outlined his status as one of the Championship’s brightest young talents this season, and he is currently leading the entire division for assists, alongside Middlesbrough’s Finn Azaz.
After they were unable to get a deal over the line in January, it seems that Everton and David Moyes are undeterred in their pursuit of Fellows.
Nixon understands the Scottish boss sent Alan Irvine and Charlie Adam to watch the Baggies wide player last week, only for him to miss the draw at Burnley as a result of a family bereavement.
Nixon also reported that Moyes will have a major say in Everton’s transfer dealings from now on, after director of football, Kevin Thelwell, departed Goodison Park recently.
With that in mind, and Moyes believed to be keen on building a young, British core of players at the club, Fellows seemingly ticks all the boxes for the Toffees.
It was previously reported by Football Insider that Moyes is keen to explore the Championship market once again, having enjoyed success with the likes of Tim Cahill and Jarrod Bowen in the past, and in terms of young talents in the second tier at present, Fellows is as exciting as they come.
Having spent the majority of the season on loan at then League Two side Crawley Town back in 2022/23, Fellows enjoyed something of a breakthrough season at The Hawthorns last term.
The Baggies starlet notched four league goals and three assists from 35 games, in what was his first prolonged taste of Championship football.
As impressive as that was for a player of such inexperience, the winger has gone one better this term. The 21-year-old has two goals and 11 assists from 37 league appearances so far, and he has become one of the key performers for Tony Mowbray’s side.
No player aged 21 or under can match Fellows’ 13 goal contributions, while his tally of 11 assists sees him level with Azaz (who is widely regarded as one of the Championship’s best creators) at the top of the assist charts.
The Baggies academy graduate has also created more big chances (10) than anyone else at the club this season.
With the likes of Mikey Johnston and Grady Diangana also in the squad, West Brom are blessed with plenty of talent in wide areas. However, none have a ceiling as high as Fellows does.
While the West Midlands outfit knocked back bids from both Ipswich and Southampton over the summer, it is no surprise that Premier League interest in Fellows hasn’t died down, given the form that he has displayed this season.
Although West Brom could yet become a Premier League side themselves next season, it would be a huge surprise if Fellows wasn’t playing top flight football one way or the other next season.
