The question on everybody’s lips on Wednesday is who specifically Paulo Fonseca was talking about when he called out his players for their attitude during his post-match press conference after the 2-1 Champions League victory over Crvena Zvezda.
Though Milan picked up their fourth consecutive win in the Champions League on Wednesday night, Fonseca was not best pleased with what he saw from some of his players, suggesting that some of them did not fulfill their ‘obligation’ to ‘give everything for the shirt’.
The Rossoneri coach also said that he would not be afraid to play players from the Milan Futuro or Primavera sides if he doesn’t see an improvement.

Fonseca also said that he would not ‘go into tiny details’ about his complaints, which has left several outlets in Italy asking who specifically he was referring to during his post-match rant.

Though Fonseca has given no indication either way, Milannews.it suggest that the struggling Theo Hernandez could possibly be one of the players the coach was calling out.
There are also suggestions that Davide Calabria could have been the intended target, given his decision to effectively blank the coach after being substituted off on Wednesday night.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori, who have both struggled to replicate their form from previous seasons this campaign, have also been suggested, but Fonseca has not confirmed either way who he was trying to motivate.
