Everything on the line for Rangers and Danny Rohl at Tynecastle

Rangers travel to Tynecastle in the first real proper title showdown of the season this weekend. Hearts, flying high at the top of the table, are dark horses to win the whole thing. Celtic are still favourites but Hearts are in with a serious chance. Hearts v Rangers is a big one.

And a win for them at home v Rangers would cement their aspirations for sure.

Rohl

Rangers, under a resurgent Danny Rohl with 7 wins of 9, are the form team in the league right now along with Aberdeen.

Both sides are hitting some results at a good time, and as Rangers go to Edinburgh, it’s the first really big serious league test for Danny Rohl.

He’s maintained a decent uptick for Rangers, 20 points of 24 – it’s hard to sniff at that.

But Hearts will be a much, much bigger upgrade than Dundee Utd were, and Rohl barely scraped a 2-2 at Tannadice.

A win

What does a win for Rangers mean?

It would mean Rangers have delivered under Rohl in a serious league test and there’s grounds for belief that this dire start to the season can actually turn round.

Hearts will be incredibly tough – while they had a blip lately, they’re back on track and with Celtic floundering Derek McInnes and his men will see Rangers as a giant scalp to take.

That would be their statement of title aspirations.

Statement

Rangers winning would be our statement of not quite being out of it yet.

It’s a huge match, and it’s Danny Rohl’s chance to deliver the 3 points.

Comically, both sides probably see this as a scalp to take. That Rangers see Hearts as a tough match shows where we are at the moment, but then again, Tynecastle has always been a hard venue to go to.

A draw

Either way, a draw doesn’t really suit either side, and the 3 points for host or visitor has big, big implications.

Hearts have just beaten Celtic, and in Glasgow at that.

If they can overcome Rangers as well, their pretentions to the title are clear.

It’s absolutely must-win for Rangers amid Hearts v Rangers
