Giacomo Ferri spoke highly of Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci amid speculation linking the Italian with a transfer to Inter Milan.
During an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, Ferri hailed Ricci’s maturity and humility ahead of an inevitable exit.
One way or another, Ricci will leave Turin in the foreseeable future.
Widely considered among Europe’s hottest prospects, the 23-year-old has generated plenty of interest across the continent.
AC Milan and Inter have emerged as his potential destinations in Serie A.
However, perennial Premier League champions Manchester City have also shown interest in Paolo Vanoli’s standout midfielder.
After Rodri’s injury, Pep Guardiola has earmarked Ricci as the Spaniard’s potential long-term successor.
Meanwhile, Torino would ideally keep hold of their talisman as long as possible.
While a January exit looks unlikely, there’s a decent chance they’ll need to sell Ricci in the summer.
Indeed, the player’s contract runs out in 2026.
Therefore, there’s a small time window for Torino to cash in on their sought-after star.
Ricci has been irreplaceable for Torino this season, featuring Vanoli’s starting line-up in all 18 league games.
Moreover, he opened his account against Udinese last time out.
Indeed, his half-volley inspired Torino to a 2-2 draw at the Bluenergy Stadium.
“Samuele has become a real gem,” Ferri praised Ricci.
“He now handles both phases of the game: he directs, creates, and finishes.
“His consistency is exceptional, and he has reached the level of the most celebrated midfielders seen at Torino.
“I expect the national team coach to make him a key player for the upcoming matches.
“Moreover, Samuele is also a serious and modest guy, truly a treasure for the club.”
Despite Torino’s utmost effort, Ricci has yet to pen a new contract, increasing the likelihood of a summer departure.
