Former Juventus and Arsenal goalkeeper Alexander Manninger has died aged 48 after a car accident on Thursday morning.

The English FA and RB Salzburg confirmed his death.

Emergency services arrived quickly but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The former Austria international made 137 Serie A appearances for Juventus, Torino, Siena, Bologna and Fiorentina, winning the Scudetto with Juve under Antonio Conte in 2011-12.

He also played 64 times for Arsenal, lifting the Premier League title in 1997-98.
