Excelsior host Volendam in the Eredivisie on Sunday, 10 May 2026 at Stadion Woudestein, with 14th facing 16th and crucial survival points on the line in Rotterdam.
Excelsior have recent head-to-head encouragement, winning 2-1 away at Volendam in September 2025 and 4-0 at home in April 2024.
Form favours the hosts. Excelsior arrive on the back of back-to-back league wins, beating Utrecht 5-0 before a 3-2 success at Groningen. Volendam lost 2-0 to Heerenveen last time out, having won 2-0 at Heracles the week before, and also held Feyenoord to a goalless draw in early April.
Selection could matter. Excelsior are without Mathijs Tielemans, Stan Henderikx, Miliano Jonathans and Jerolldino Bergraaf. Volendam miss goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen and midfielder Dave Kwakman, while Nordin Bukala is suspended.
The match-up points to chances at both ends. Excelsior have scored 39 league goals and carry an aerial threat with eight headed efforts this season, while Volendam have conceded 52 and kept three clean sheets. Noah Naujoks is a key outlet for the hosts with nine Eredivisie goals this campaign.
In the table picture, a home win would lift Excelsior to 37 points and strengthen their position outside the bottom three. Victory for Volendam would take them to 34 points and could move them closer to safety from the relegation play-offs.
