Speaking exclusively with FLW, Don Goodman has been discussing the news that Harry Amass is set to remain with the Owls for the rest of the season.

Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly been handed a huge boost regarding the future of Harry Amass, with Manchester United understood to have no intention of recalling him from his Owls loan in January.

There is a strange feeling of positivity and hope surrounding Sheffield Wednesday right now.

Despite the fact they're in administration following the disastrous reign of Dejphon Chansiri, that tenureship is now tantalisingly close to being officially over, as at least 11 parties have provided proof of funds ahead of a potential takeover, with interested candidates having been shown around Hillsborough too.

As such, Owls supporters can now finally see light at the end of what has been a dark, and seemingly never-ending tunnel of darkness over recent years, despite the fact the club sits bottom of the Championship table on -4 points, and looking destined for League One football next season.

Wednesdayites were handed another huge boost this week too, as BBC Sheffield journalist Rob Staton revealed that Manchester United won't be recalling star loanee Harry Amass from the Owls in January, after fears were rising that this could be on the cards.

Speaking exclusively with Football League World, we asked Sky Sports pundit and former player Don Goodman: 'Harry Amass is set to remain with Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Manchester United until the end of the Championship season, with the Red Devils deciding he's best served staying at the Owls. Just how much of a boost is this for Henrik Pedersen and his side?'

Goodman said: "Yes, it's more good news for Sheffield Wednesday.

"Obviously, Harry Amass has been involved in every single Championship game (since he signed for Wednesday on 1 September), playing at a high level, been one of the best players.

"So playing week in, week out is clearly really good for his development, confidence and mentality to understand that he can cope with senior football.

"And from Sheffield Wednesday's point of view, it removes the doubt that they might lose him in January, and Henrik Pedersen can plan forward knowing that Harry Amass will be part of his Sheffield Wednesday squad.

"So it's a win-win all round, for me."

Harry Amass is thriving with Sheffield Wednesday - Man Utd will see value in him having unique Owls experience

Clubs always try and go out of their way to source their young players the best possible loan moves they can.

Often, that means finding teams who either have a big role planned for them, or are expected to be pushing towards the top of their respective division, and as such will be able to give the player a great opportunity to be around a promotion/title-winning campaign.

However, whilst Wednesday have evidently always had a big role in mind for Amass given their lack of numbers in the playing squad, United will have known that they were likely going to be sending the highly-rated 18-year-old to a relegation battle, as well as firmly being of the understanding he'd be joining what at the time was a club yet to enter administration, but were still in a total mess.

But in many ways, sending a player like Amass to this kind of environment and situation is a rare and unique learning experience, and one that United may well have seen as a great opportunity to hand their young star experience that few other players would ever get.

Indeed, he'll have witnessed the internal struggle of players and staff members going unpaid, fan boycotts and so much more that perhaps the public isn't privy to, and he'll have and continue to learn so much from that.

Not only about what it takes to play at a high level like the Championship, which he's done so with relative ease so far having bagged a goal and established himself as a key player for them down the left flank, but also what the game and football clubs truly mean to people.

Given his exploits in a Wednesday shirt so far, he's already having a well-earned taste of what it feels like to be a star player in the eyes of his fans, with his performances having seen him become an instant fan favourite among the Owls faithful.

So, for so many reasons other than simply his performances on the pitch, keeping Amass at Hillsborough for the duration of the season is, as Goodman says, a clear win-win situation for everyone involved.
