A number of Championship clubs are monitoring Huddersfield Town teenager Jay Sway, Football League World has learned
Highly-rated Huddersfield Town prospect Jay Sway has emerged as a potential transfer target for a number of Championship clubs ahead of next month's transfer window, sources have exclusively revealed to Football League World.
The Terriers themselves are bidding to return to English football's second-tier after a disappointing finish in last term's League One campaign, ending the campaign in 10th position.
Now under the stewardship of former Stoke City and Manchester United shot-stopper Lee Grant following a significant squad rebuilding process throughout the summer, which saw Huddersfield labeled by many as title contenders, Town are currently positioned in eighth with 26 points from 17 matches ahead of this Saturday's lunchtime trip to league leaders Cardiff City.
Grant's own position at the Accu Stadium has not been without scrutiny from supporters amid Huddersfield's inconsistent form, which requires improvement if the West Yorkshire outfit are to outmuscle the likes of Cardiff, Stevenage, Stockport County and Bolton Wanderers in the promotion race.

Indeed, the Terriers may already be keeping one eye on the upcoming January transfer window despite having welcomed a flurry of fresh faces to Grant's side across the summer months, with the prospect of injecting some potentially season-defining star quality to his camp sure to be an attractive one for the 42-year-old.
However, in January and beyond, Huddersfield will also be eager to retain the club's prised assets and the future of young talent Sway is currently in question.
Sources close to Football League World have exclusively informed that one player at the Accu Stadium — Sway — is earning admirers from higher up the footballing pyramid, with a number of unnamed Championship clubs weighing up a potential transfer swoop for the 18-year-old.
For the time being, at least, it remains unclear exactly who these clubs are, but it's understood that Sway's services are being monitored by no shortage of second-tier outfits — which Huddersfield themselves will intend on being come May, of course.
Sway put pen to paper on his first professional contract back in the summer, having risen through the youth ranks at Huddersfield after joining, initially as a right-back, from Everton's academy.

The hotly-rated teenager has transitioned into an attacking midfield role in more recent times, however, and his positional versatility is likely to be deemed an attractive quality by second-tier suitors.
Sway impressed for the Terriers during pre-season and has made six first-team appearances to date in the 2025/26 campaign, all of which have come in cup action.
He appeared as a substitute in all three of Huddersfield's EFL Cup outings against Leicester City, Sunderland and Manchester City, and all three of his side's EFL Trophy group stage fixtures against Newcastle United under-21's, Harrogate Town and League One rivals Mansfield Town.
FLW understands that Sway is continuing to train with Grant's first-team cohort, and will be eyeing further first-team opportunities in the remainder of the season.
Huddersfield's stance on Sway's future remains clear, and FLW has learned that the Terriers are eager to retain his services for the long-term future.
His potential is evidently highly thought-of in this corner of Yorkshire, and the Terriers have no intention of seeing Sway depart the club after handing him a professional deal back in the summer.

Instead, sources have indicated to FLW that Huddersfield may consider sanctioning a loan switch to a fellow third-tier club, or a side in League One, come January in order for Sway to gain increased senior experience, which may not be available at Town in the midst of a promotion push with plenty of competition for places across the pitch in what is a large squad at Grant's disposal.
That would be a much more appealing course of action for Huddersfield, who could then see Sway return to the fold reared and readied to establish himself in the first-team frame ahead of 2026/27 and beyond.
