FC Bayern could soon be poaching Borussia Dortmund on the transfer market again. According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Munich club should make a serious bid for Nico Schlotterbeck – especially if Dayot Upamecano leaves the club.
On „At Broski – Die Sport-Show“, Plettenberg demanded clear steps from the Bayern bosses: „Nico Schlotterbeck would be absolutely ready for FC Bayern – and they have to deal with him now. If Dayot Upamecano leaves the club, it’s Bayern’s turn to deal with the issue. They have to do their homework now: call, enquire, register their interest.“
The transfer expert does not expect Upamecano to extend his contract, which runs until 2026: „As things stand today, I don’t see Upamecano extending his contract.“

According to Plettenberg, the Dortmund centre-back would be an ideal addition to the Munich defence. Schlotterbeck has developed enormously in recent years: „In his first five international matches, he used to concede four penalties – he was a danger to himself and others. That’s over now. For me, Schlotterbeck is currently the best German centre-back – at least when he’s fit. And Bayern know that very well.“
According to Plettenberg, the 25-year-old, whose contract with BVB runs until 2027, is in the form of his life. At FC Bayern, he would not only fit into coach Vincent Kompany’s concept in sporting terms, but also in terms of character – strong in the game, confident in tackles and with leadership qualities.
As talks between Schlotterbeck and Dortmund over a contract extension have been slow, an ideal window of opportunity could open up for the German record champions. Munich have been following the international’s development closely for years.
