The Football Association have confirmed the list of match officials to oversee proceedings between Manchester City and Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

City have only recently returned from Wembley themselves, returning from the capital with the first major trophy of the ongoing season in hand, courtesy of a 0-2 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup Final in the last match before the international pause.

Nico O’Reilly’s second-half brace was enough to separate the two squads, as the versatile midfielder further strengthens his grip on a place at the summer’s FIFA World Cup under Thomas Tuchel and England.

City will be wanting to maintain the momentum built up through their Wembley showpiece win as they embark on an April schedule that also features difficult away trips to Chelsea and Burnley, separated by an Etihad Stadium clash against Arsenal.

Ahead of the meeting between Manchester City and Liverpool, the Football Association have now announced the list of match officials to oversee proceedings at the Etihad Stadium!

Match Referee

The Football Association have confirmed that Michael Oliver has been appointed into the role of match referee for Manchester City against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The 41-year-old referee will be taking charge of his 35th contest across all competitions this season when he steps out onto the Manchester surface this weekend, having officiated in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Qualifying, UEFA Europa League, and World Cup Qualification Play-Offs.

Pep Guardiola’s match-up against Arne Slot will, however, be Oliver’s first contest in this season’s FA Cup campaign, whilst the clash will be Oliver’s 65th in all competitions involving Manchester City.

In his previous 64 encounters with Manchester City, Oliver has overseen 45 Sky Blue victories, eight draws, and 11 defeats for the Etihad Stadium club, although City are yet to win in a game involving him as referee this season.

The last game overseen by Michael Oliver involving Manchester City came at the London Stadium in mid-March as Pep Guardiola’s players were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham United, whilst Oliver was also the referee for a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, and a 1-1 draw to Chelsea.

As for Oliver’s last game involving Liverpool, that came at Anfield in the Premier League as Manchester United recorded a surprise 1-2 victory on Merseyside.

Assistant Referees

Accompanying Michael Oliver on the pitch at the Etihad Stadium this weekend will be assistant referees Stuart Burt and Timothy Wood, the Football Association have confirmed.

Video Assistant Referees

Watching over Manchester City against Liverpool from the VAR Hub will be referee Paul Howard as the Video Assistant Referee, supported by Sian Massey-Ellis in the position of Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

Fourth Official

Standing between the two dugouts and managing affairs involving Pep Guardiola and Arne Slot’s respective Manchester City and Liverpool dugouts will be referee Paul Tierney, appointed as fourth official for the match.
