FA figures show Wolves almost doubled their agents’ fees to £25.9m over the last two windows, while Villa paid more than £38.4m, the Premier League’s second highest behind Chelsea’s £65.1m. The league-wide spend climbed by more than £50m to £460m.

Wolves’ outlay ranked seventh, a sharp rise from £13.5m and eighth lowest a year earlier. The period covers transactions, including transfers and contract renewals, from February 4 2025 to February 2 this year.

Last summer Wolves recruited six players, none with previous Premier League experience. Brazilian striker Jhon Arias departed after six months in the winter window. They sit bottom with seven matches left, having won only three times in the top flight all season.

Villa endured a difficult summer amid Uefa’s financial fair play rules. Evann Guessand joined from Nice for nearly £30m as the only big-money addition. Tammy Abraham arrived for £18.2m in winter, and Tyrone Mings, John McGinn and Morgan Rogers agreed new contracts within the period.

Villa’s intermediaries spend rose by more than £13m on the previous 12 months. In the Championship, Albion’s fees fell to £1.3m from £2.5m, the sixth lowest in the division. Ipswich paid the most at £11.7m, while Walsall dropped to £104,000, down about £40,000, and Shrewsbury rose to £91,500, up about £15,000.
