On the evening of last Tuesday (11), the event and launch of the Paulistão 2026 took place, which will feature a new format and fewer dates for games. One of Corinthians' representatives was Fabinho Soldado, who spoke in the mixed zone about the planning for the next season and the priorities of the football department.

“You need to work with some realities and it would be great if we could look ahead and work only on the scenario. But we need, as I always say, to roll up our sleeves, work, and focus on what we can control. We have some situations that cannot be defined yet.“, the executive began.

“The Copa do Brasil itself, we hope to extend this time a little more. And when I talk about extending the time a little, there are the athletes' vacations, the presentation in 2026, some players on loan. So, we need to understand some movements that cannot be made now“, he added.

Corinthians is not in a good phase in the Brasileirão, with two consecutive defeats, even after having achieved three consecutive victories. Therefore, the team's focus has shifted to recovering in the competition, even with the Copa do Brasil decisions to be played in December.

“We have been thinking about this. Most of the team is very focused on working directly with Dorival, the coaching staff, and the athletes, so they can have peace of mind to finish these five games of the Brazilian Championship in an honorable way. We are not happy with the recent results. The athletes are not. The coaching staff is not. The management is not either. But now is the time to take advantage of this FIFA date, this time we have ahead, to prepare better so that we can already in the next home game, which is a classic, behave differently and achieve victory.“, emphasized Fabinho.

Since the transfer window, Corinthians has been banned from making signings due to the debt for Félix Torres with Santos Laguna. Thus, Fabinho Soldado was only able to sign Vitinho, far from the promise made to Dorival Júnior that the squad would be reinforced.

“Corinthians is going through difficult times, and they are not just recent. Our president is doing his utmost, and when you talk about transfers and other bureaucratic issues, he has been sharing this part of the work with his competent team, part of the board, legal, financial, and I am now much more focused on the technical part, I have already said this, and now also with this thought for 26.“

“So look at the size of the challenge we have, a super difficult Paulista competition, which already starts on the 11th, classics to be played, and I need to look at all possibilities so that we can finish 2025 better and already think about some scenarios for 2026.”, said the director.

The Paulistão 2026 is scheduled to start on January 11, less than a month after the Copa do Brasil return match and possible finals. Thus, the club will have to make an agreement with the players regarding vacations. The Brasileirão will end on December 6.
