Barcelona are still drawing up targets ahead of the summer transfer window opening at the start of next month. They have the signing of a new centre-back and striker on the agenda, while it is also looking increasingly likely that a full-back could arrive at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Both right-back and left-back have generated doubts over the last 12 months, with starters Jules Kounde and Alejandro Balde having struggled for form. The latter was replaced by Joao Cancelo for much of the second half of the 2025-26 season, so if it is determined that the Portugal international is unable to be signed permanently from Al Hilal, it opens the door for an alternative to be brought in.
And that alternative could be Andrea Cambiaso. According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are very interested in the Juventus full-back, whom they have had on their radar for several months. Chelsea have also been linked with him, although the Premier League club have yet to make a move towards signing him.
Cambiaso is said to be among two or three options that Barcelona are considering for the left-back position in Hansi Flick’s squad. They have been linked with Spanish international pair Alejandro Grimaldo and Marc Cucurella in recent weeks, and as of yet, no decision has been made regarding a prospective top target.

The decision on a possible new left-back is one that Barcelona must make, although it is unlikely to happen any time soon. Sporting director Deco is currently prioritising the signing of a new striker to replace the departing Robert Lewandowski, with Julian Alvarez continuing to the Catalans’ leading target.
For now, it will be interesting to see how the situation evolves regarding the possible signing of a new left-back. It must also be considered how it would affect the future of Balde, whose prominence at the Spotify Camp Nou continues to drop.
