Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has issued a major update on Andrey Santos’ imminent move to Manchester United.
Yesterday, news broke that United and Chelsea have struck an agreement for Santos to seal a permanent switch to United.
Having missed out on Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes to Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, United turned their attention to Santos.
The Red Devils have had a long-standing interest in the player, who is said to be keen on regular playing time that was not forthcoming at Chelsea.
His hopes of eventually breaking into the club’s starting eleven took a further hit after Moises Caicedo committed his future until 2033 with a new deal earlier this year.
United will pay the Blues a guaranteed £48m fee plus £2m in add-ons. Chelsea will also retain a 10 per cent sell-on clause.
The Brazilian featured in 43 matches for Chelsea in all competitions last season, scoring three goals and contributing four assists.
Romano has revealed that Santos has passed his United medical.
The Italian journalist wrote on X, “Andrey Santos has just completed a successful medical as new Manchester United player.”
“Clubs signed all documents for £50m package deal.”
“Andrey signs tomorrow, Friday on deal until June 2031 plus option at Manchester United.”
With the Santos transaction now formally resolved, United’s focus shifts to finalising the acquisition of Ederson. He is presently undergoing his medical examination, which is anticipated to be the decisive factor in whether the club proceeds with an official announcement.
