Marc Cucurella’s explosive comments about Chelsea’s project have been defended by Fabrizio Romano of all people.

The big news of this international break at Chelsea was without doubt Marc Cucurella’s interview with the Athletic, where he pointed out the doubts he and teammates had about the project they signed up for at Stamford Bridge.
Fabrizio Romano, the transfer guru, has decided (presumably at the behest of Cucurella’s camp) to clarify that the full back just wants the best for the team, and isn’t trying to be negative for the sake of being negative, or to force his way out of the club.
“These are not negative comments about Chelsea, but rather a message from a player who feels responsible and wants to push the project forward,” Romano said on his Twitter page.
“Cucurella remains one of the voices of the dressing room, a smart player who knows exactly what he is saying and why.”
We didn’t need to be told any of that, really. Cucurella’s comments seemed very measured, and in fact reflected what many fans have been saying for a long time.
Ryan Kavuma-McQueen has continued to make waves in our youth teams, and there’s increasing chatter he may make a debut this weekend in the FA Cup against Port Vale.
Malo Gusto has spoken about how he wants to become the best right back in the world.
