Fabrizio Romano: Matteo Guendouzi 'to join' Fenerbahce after €29m agreement | OneFootball

Sunderland look set to miss out on Matteo Guendouzi, with Fenerbahce closing on a deal after a verbal agreement worth €29m including add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Black Cats had been linked with the Lazio midfielder in recent weeks, with a possible reunion mooted between Guendouzi and head coach Regis Le Bris from their time together at Lorient.

Romano said paperwork is being prepared between the clubs and that the player has agreed personal terms, with a signing targeted this week.

If completed, Guendouzi would head to Türkiye to join a side sitting three points off the top of the Turkish top flight and battling for a Europa League knockout place.

Le Bris, speaking on Tuesday, indicated there is nothing imminent on incomings and that January is unlikely to be a large window, though Sunderland will try to strengthen if the right opportunity arises.
