It was revealed by the Telegraph that the Foxes’ latest legal row with the Premier League will start next week, where the King Power Stadium outfit will appear at a hearing as they contest three new charges.

The Championship side are alleged to have broken profitability and sustainability (PSR) rules for the 2023-24 season, when Leicester finished the campaign as second-tier champions.

Leicester have also been charged for failing to provide their annual accounts before the December 31 deadline and for being unable to fully comply with the Premier League during the process.

The Foxes' legal battle with the Premier League has now been going on for 18 months and they could end up being hit with a fine or a points deduction depending on whether the charges are proven.

With a verdict potentially to be announced before the end of this year, many Leicester City supporters have been asking why their case hasn’t been handled in a similar timeframe to that of Manchester City’s.

Pep Guardiola’s side were infamously hit with 115 charges relating to violating financial regulations in early 2023, but have yet to hear a verdict on the situation, with a recent update suggesting that the outcome has been delayed even further.

With Leicester’s case seemingly being handled much quicker, many of the Foxes’ faithful have been questioning why that is the case.

“& yet we are still waiting on Man City..” commented one supporter.

This view was backed up by an Aston Villa fan, claiming that the top-flight was showing bias to its more successful teams.

“100 per cent this,” agreed the Villan. “And they try & say the Premier League is not biased towards the cartel 6!”

“Makes a mockery as still awaiting the Man City charges to land,” stated a Leicester fan.

“Yet Man City who have charges many seasons earlier carry on as usual.. money talks as the song goes,” commented another.

There was even surprise support from a Coventry City supporter, who couldn’t understand why Leicester’s case was reaching a conclusion before Man City’s.

“Hate Leicester! (Coventry fan here) but the fact Man City are still going along is a joke,” said one of the Sky Blues’ faithful.

Leicester City will hope legal battle doesn’t impact their season too heavily

Leicester could be hit with a 12-point deduction if the charges against them are proven, which may end up having a serious impact on their season.

At this moment in time, that would drop them down to 22nd in the table, meaning a relegation battle would now be on the cards.

Marti Cifuentes’ side have struggled for form in recent times, with their victory against Norwich just their second win since late August.

Therefore, everyone connected with the Foxes will hope the punishment they may potentially receive won’t be that extreme, otherwise it could have uncomfortable consequences for the rest of the season.
