Daniel Farke revealed that Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin are doubts for their match against Liverpool.

Both players started Leeds’ 3-1 win over Chelsea in midweek, but they were unable to complete the full 90 minutes.

Before the match against Chelsea, Calvert-Lewin had not started for Leeds since their 3-0 loss to Brighton in early November.

Nmecha had started all of the side’s last four games, but Farke raised doubts about both of their fitness ahead of the Liverpool clash: “We have a few players who are a bit more of a major doubt. Nmecha has had hamstring problems after the last games, Calvert-Lewin calf problems, there’s also a question mark over his availability.

“We have to see who will be fully recovered, for some players it will be easier; for the players who are used to this load of games in seven days.

“We need the whole squad during this period, especially when you have three games in a week, we have to go over the limit.

“Chelsea had yesterday their second highest physical output, but our loads were unbelievable. There will be some late decisions but whoever is on the pitch will give everything.”

Both Sean Longstaff and Dan James missed the win against Chelsea, and Farke gave an update on their fitness ahead of Liverpool.

“No fresh injury concerns. “We have definitely Daniel James and Sean Longstaff out so it’s a bit longer term.”

Leeds are just one place above 17th placed West Ham in the Premier League but Farke insists that the win against Chelsea has given his side some much-needed confidence.

“To win points in such a massive game against a top class opponent who were on fire before,” he said. “To win in this manner was a well-deserved win. It gives us confidence, it’s good for the mood and it’s good for the table.

“I was also convinced before that we have everything that we needed. There have been good performances before during the whole season. I am always optimistic and positive.”
