After stepping in as FC Barcelona's starter due to Joan Garcia's injury, Wojciech Szczęsny has made some startling statements in his home country during this October international break. Speaking to WP Sportowe Fakty, the former Juventus keeper revealed he does not intend to feature in the upcoming Clasico against Real Madrid scheduled for October 26.

"I think he’s a guy with tremendous potential. I would be very modest to say I can help him a bit. I accept this role with great responsibility. I don’t want anyone to have any doubts. There will never be a competition for the number 1 jersey here. I sincerely wish him a speedy recovery. And I don’t plan to play in the Clasico," he stated.
