Barcelona are considering triggering a £26m option to sign Marcus Rashford permanently from Manchester United following the forward’s strong start to life in Spain.
Rashford, 27, joined the Catalan giants on loan for the 2025/26 season, with the agreement including a clause allowing Barça to purchase him next summer at what would be viewed as a cut-price fee. According to reports by Sky Sports, the LaLiga club are increasingly inclined to act, particularly after Rashford’s match-winning performance in the Champions League last week.
The England international struck twice in Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park, underlining his ability to deliver on the biggest stage. He has registered two goals and an assist in six appearances across all competitions since making the switch.
Yet his time has not been without controversy. Rashford was left out of Sunday’s squad to face Getafe after arriving late to a pre-training team meeting, angering manager Hansi Flick. Despite the disciplinary issue, Barcelona officials remain convinced of his long-term value.
United cannot recall Rashford this season under the terms of the loan, leaving the forward’s immediate future tied to Barcelona as speculation intensifies over a permanent move.
