FC Bayern Women have extended Sarah Zadrazil’s contract until 2027 and the Austrian will remain the central midfielder.
FC Bayern is sending out a clear signal of continuity and trust in the women’s team. Midfielder Sarah Zadrazil has extended her contract with the Munich club until June 30, 2027. The Austrian international is thus entering her seventh season with the German record champions and remains a central component in their sporting planning.
The extension comes at a challenging time for Zadrazil personally. At the end of September, the 32-year-old suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg and has been working intensively on her comeback ever since. It is no coincidence that the club has nevertheless extended her contract. Bianca Rech, Director of Women’s Football at FC Bayern, made it clear that talks had already begun before the injury and that the club had no doubts about their future together afterwards.
Zadrazil is not only regarded internally as a top performer on the pitch, but also as a quiet leader off the pitch. She is responsible for structure, balance and stability, especially in the six-man position – qualities that the Munich team will not want to do without after her return.
Since moving from Turbine Potsdam in the summer of 2020, Zadrazil has become a permanent fixture in the Bayern women’s midfield. In 160 competitive matches to date, she has scored six goals and celebrated four German championships, a DFB Cup and two Super Cup titles with the club. Her importance goes far beyond statistics: Zadrazil is a symbol of consistency, discipline and reliability.
For the player herself, the extension is also more than just a new contract. Zadrazil spoke of how much she is valued and of the important support she received during her rehab. FC Bayern has long since become a second home for her, she said, and her goals with the club are far from being achieved.
By extending her contract, FC Bayern is sending out a clear signal: performance, leadership and identification are rewarded even in difficult phases. For the Bayern women, Zadrazil is not just part of the past – but an important factor for the future.
